We encourage learning by doing. ++++ ++++ How do I get access to the workshop? | Send an email to atm@atm.nu with your full name, student ID (if a student), phone number, and an image (for alumni, jpeg 500x500). ++++ ++++ Are there any specific rules for using power tools? | You must read the manual and understand the appropriate use of each tool. ++++ ++++ Can I reserve time on specific machines? | No, the workshop operates on a first-come, first-served basis. Some machines may be reserved for teaching purposes. Stay up to date via our Facebook page. ++++ ++++ What materials are provided by the workshop? | We offer a collection of metal and wood for free use by members. Be respectful—although free, the wood has value. For specific projects, we recommend bringing your own materials. ++++ ++++ Can I bring my own materials? | Yes! You are encouraged to bring your own materials for projects. However, the following are not allowed: rotten wood, treated wood, stainless steel, galvanized steel, and curing epoxy. ++++ ++++ Are there any costs or fees associated with using the workshop? | Most materials are free, but members should purchase their own if using large quantities. For example, if you’ll use an entire bottle of glue, please bring your own. Toxic materials like epoxy and paints are restricted. ++++ ++++ Is there a space for storage of personal projects? | Yes, we have a dedicated room for storing active projects, but only for up to two weeks. ++++ ++++ Can I collaborate with others on projects in the workshop? | Yes, you can bring up to two guests. However, guests cannot use the power tools, and you are responsible for their behavior. ++++ ++++ How do I get certified to use specialized tools (e.g., lathe, welder)? | There is no formal certification. Read the manual, watch referenced videos, and ask for an in-person introduction from a superuser via our Facebook group. ++++ ++++ Are there any workshops or events held regularly? | We hold an introduction on the first Wednesday of each month, with club activities limited during this time. Board meetings are open to all members, and we have a bi-annual activity day where we clean the club and share pizza. Have ideas for more events?
